Size reduction is a key processing step for feedstocks. Traditional methods include hammermills, grinders, and chippers. However, these methods typically are either limited to producing ½” and larger particles or require pre-drying of biomass at a substantial energy cost. Additionally, these methods may produce large amounts of fines with wide particle distributions and poor flowability.
Forest Concepts developed the Crumbler® rotary shear to address these common problems and produce a superior result.

Our Industrial Pilot-Scale Rotary Shear
Our P24M series of machines have a small footprint but are strong enough to handle a wide range of materials including wood chips, corn stover, switchgrass, bamboo, sage, hemp, agave, and more. The machine is capable of processing up to 15 green tons* per hour of your raw feedstocks into precision particles.

* Throughput estimates based on ideal feedstocks and a skilled crew. Stated throughput is for green wood chips into 1/4″ feedstock particles. Throughput is inversely proportional to comminution ratio and final particle size. Other configurations and versions up to 3, 5, and 10 tons per hour capacity are feasible. Dust control may be needed depending on moisture content and processing conditions.
